DRUNK OF THE YEAR |
The Drunk of the Year Award was heavily contested this year. Last years winner Andrew Knights had the odd occasional booze up but to everyones amazement turned up sober. Matt Pert was very close, needing a call on the morning to get him out of bed. However the undoubted winner was ALLAN ELLIS. |
LOOK AFTER IT !!! |
Pictured to right is last years winner Andrew Knights telling Allan to look after the award. |
I AM A WINNER !!! |
Allan decides to tell everyone he is a winner. With those blurry eyes or eye!!! - it's a wonder you can see where the camera is !!!! | |
MOST IMPROVED |
This years Most Improved Player award was another trophy that went right down to the wire. This is voted for by the players and in a close second was Nigel Sugden. The winner - Matthew Karadzic, thoroughly deserved the trophy, filling the left back spot perfectly and playing further up field when required. Well Done Matt |
The night starts to move on, with the beer flowing and Mick Hamlett in the back ground doing a sterling job selling the raffle tickets. Marc Ellis (Curly) sets about taking in the atmosphere and enjoying a bottle of budweiser. |
CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR |
This is one of the awards where the players vote for an individual who gives that little bit extra to the team. This could be such things as helping with the kit, nets and in the general organisation of the team. |
TOP TACKLER |
Last season we had an award for the best tackle. It seemed a little unfair this season as this years winner - ANDREW KNIGHTS, did this consistantly throughout the whole season. His commanding prescence along with his knowledge ensured that the opposing team didn't get an easy ride. Great stuff Andy. |
TOP GOALSCORER |
Once again a trophy that went to the last game of the season. In a season where there has been 13 different goal scorers - it was never going to be a high number that won it. However when Jonesy was on the pitch he certainly made a difference. |
SUPPORTERS PLAYER |
This trophy is voted for by the supporters. Those mad individuals who come to the games no matter what the weather. SIMON HAYWARD. |
REFEREES M O M AWARD |
At the end of every game the referee is asked to name a player who he feels has contributed most to the game. Once again a trophy that was well contested - but rightly so the winner this year was JAMEY COX. Thoroughly deserved - marshalling the midfield and in some instances the back four through the games. |
PLAYERS PLAYER |
At the end of every game all the players vote for a Man of the Match. At the end of the season these are tallied up for the Players Player award. There were several contenders such as Nigel Sugden, Andy Knights and Matt Pert. But for his contribution throughout the season and his consistency the winner is JAMEY COX. |
MANAGERS PLAYER |
This year was a difficult one to call - at the end of every game the Manager votes a 1, 2, 3 and at the end of the season all the votes are added up. Once again very close with Simon Hayward, Matt Pert, Matthew Karadzic but this year saw the award won by two people. Thanks guys - that's an extra trophy I didn't expect buy. |
Just take a look at the picture above and you can see Suggy's face - what a picture !!! Personally I believe that both players deserve the trophy this season. They battled and worked for the team from the start to the end of the season. Well done to NIGEL SUGDEN & ANDREW KNIGHTS. |
THE PLAYER OF THE SEASON |
Then it comes down to the "Big One". The Player of the Season. All the players in the club have one vote. This year there was a clear winner with his unorthadox way of playing "The Captain" got the majority of the votes. Is he our leader ? - I think so !!! |
SIMON HAYWARD - PLAYER OF THE SEASON Well done Simon - A great season. |
Well that is the conclusion of the presentation night for the season 2002-03, you would think so - wouldn't you, but no, the drinking and frolics carried on till late that evening. I can reassure you that no one was up early the next morning. Have a look at the presentation night for 2003/2004 and see who the winners were. Or simply have a look at the role of honour. I hope that this gives you an idea of the great nights that are had by all at The Shepherds Arms. |
Presentation - 2002/03 Season
The presentation night at the Shepherds Arms is always a night to remember - and this one was no exception.
All the trophies that were awarded were supplied by the Club and all fought for until the last game of the season.
At the presentation night thanks were given to the Supporters who attend the games in all kinds of weather and encourage the team whatever happens. These thanks are extended to Marc Ellis and Leigh Fallas - lets hope we can bring some Silverware home next season and really give them something to cheer about.
Once again many thanks !!!!!.
